Here you can find the latest VMD Enforcement Reporting information at the time this article was published.
The VMD are mostly involved with enforcing the Veterinary Medicines regulations, so for practicing vets it will mostly oversee
distribution(i.e. advertising, marketing, supply and administration of drugs). If you have concerns about the distribution of veterinary medicines and wish to report these to the VMD, please use one of the following methods;
- Reports of non-compliance to the Enforcement Section can now be made anonymously via the web reporting form at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/report-illegal-animal-medicines
- By calling 01932 338 338 an anonymous message can be left with the Enforcement Section to report non-compliance with the Veterinary Medicines Regulation The newly formed, dedicated Intelligence Unit, can be contacted at intel@vmd.gov.uk Please use this email address for any intelligence reports/requests
For all other enquiries/concerns please continue to use the enforcement@vmd.gov.uk mailbox as normal.
With any potential infringement, there could be some overlap with the RCVS “Under our care” rules. If the breaches were of the RCVS “Under our Care ” type, the VMD have said that they would pass on any relevant information to any of the bodies concerned with overseeing other aspects of the medicines regulations. Vets can obviously contact the RCVS confidential advice line(Telephone the RCVS Advice team on 020 7202 0789 or advice@rcvs.org.uk).
