Pembrokeshire Project Team go on tour

Recently the Pembrokeshire Project team have spread their wings further than the county borders and even further that the Country border!

They collected their passports and hopped on a plane (some more literally than others!)

The team were invited by the Department of Agriculture to speak in Ireland.

Day one was a visit to Teagasc research farm in Moorpark Co Cork where over 100 farmers heard how residual infection is driving TB on some of our farms here in Pembrokeshire .

Day 2 in Ireland, started at Vet26 in Killarney, Co Kerry. Where they participated in a podcast for Veterinary Ireland, and how pasteurisation of milk is trying to help reduce TB transmission & improve calf health and how HerdSafe is generating discussions around improving farm Biosecurity.

Followed by an afternoon at Vet26, speaking on how the RiskRate is identifying High Risk Animals, the “ False Negatives “ that the TB Skin test is missing, and by having an SOP for breeding & culling decisions, we can manage these animals out of the herd in a sustainable way .

Thank you to all parties involved in the organisation of days, the farmers who have interacted with us during the visit and since for more information and of course to the Pembs Project team who took time out of their busy day to day lives to make the journey and spread the Pembs Project message.
