Bluetongue Vaccine (BTV-3) Licensed for use in Wales

Welsh Ministers have agreed to licence three Bluetongue (BTV-3) vaccines for emergency use across Wales, in line with a request from farming industry representatives.

As this is the first time an unauthorised livestock vaccine has been licenced in Wales, the Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Richard Irvine is asking for your cooperation in keeping records of bluetongue vaccine doses that you order, supply and prescribe.

Veterinarians are requested to inform Welsh Government of all Bluetongue (BTV-3) vaccines they prescribe within 7 days of the date prescribed by emailing it to the following mailbox animaldiseases@gov.wales.

This request is in addition to your responsibility to inform the relevant authorities of any adverse Bluetongue vaccine related effects that you notice
