THE IMPORTANCE OF TB TESTING ON TIME
Timely testing of cattle for TB is a crucial control measure for several reasons, it helps identify infected animals sooner therefore preventing the spread of the disease, protects public health and enables trade. Planning ahead and booking TB tests early ensures availability with testing providers and avoids unwanted delays.
APHA has a strict zero tolerance policy by which movement restrictions are applied to the herd as soon as a TB test is identified as overdue. Movements of cattle to a slaughterhouse may be allowed but only under a licence issued by APHA.
For TB reactors found at a test that has been overdue for more than 60 days, compensation may be reduced by up to 95%.
